In a small rural settlement, houses and farm buildings sit close together. That is good for neighbours and good for carpet beetle larvae looking for a new food source.
Meering is a small rural settlement in the Newark area, surrounded by farmland. In such places, homes often have conservatories, utility rooms, sheds and lofts used as informal storage. Those spaces hold boxes of old clothes, rugs and feather items, which larvae can eat quietly for months before the damage shows in the main house.
We look at every area where textiles are kept, as well as the rooms with visible damage, and treat what we confirm. We are honest about what depends on what: if stored items elsewhere are infested, treating the house alone will not solve it. Advice on cleaning and sealed storage is included with every treatment.
You can look for small holes, bristly larvae and shed skins, but do not shake items inside the house. Seal anything suspicious in a bag and tell us when you call.
Not unless we inspect and treat it as well. Tell us about outbuildings when you book so we can allow time.
Both damage natural fibres, but they are different insects with different larvae, so correct identification matters for treatment.
