Surrounded by farmland, Staunton homes see rodents and wasps through the year. We identify the pest, deal with it and show you how to stop it coming back.
For a village among farmland, rodent pressure follows the farming year. After harvest, mice and rats look for new quarters, and garden sheds, garages and kitchens all qualify. In summer it is wasps, which favour lofts, soffits and garden buildings far from the daily bustle of the house. Look for droppings in garages, gnawed sacks and holes by the base of walls, and let us know exactly where you found them, as that guides the inspection.
We begin with questions about what you have heard, seen or found, then check the property, starting outside. Treatment comes next, followed by free advice. Keep woodpiles away from walls, store animal and bird feed in sealed bins and fix damaged airbricks, and you will lower the odds of a repeat. Roofs, soffits and garden outbuildings are all quiet from late spring onward, so a short check each month in summer can catch a nest early.
Woodpiles give rodents shelter right beside the building. Moving them a little way off removes a handy base. Open airbricks, loose roof tiles and gaps around pipes are the ones that deserve prompt attention, and we point them out during the visit.
Mice breed quickly, so a few can soon become many. Early treatment is usually simpler and avoids damage to wiring and stored goods. Because woodpiles trap warmth and hide runs, rodents quickly settle there. Keeping them off the ground and some way from walls takes away a ready-made shelter.

In a village with fields at the end of the garden, an ant trail can run a long way before it reaches your back door. Follow it before you spray anything.
