Open countryside around Watnall means rodents, wasps and squirrels are never far from a back door. We deal with them and help you close them out.
In a village with countryside all around, wildlife is part of daily life, and so are the pests that come with it. Rats and mice use hedgerows and ditches, squirrels use trees that overhang roofs, and wasps build in quiet outbuildings. Autumn, when food outside is scarcer, is when many people first hear scratching indoors. Cut back overhanging branches and keep log stacks away from walls, as both give squirrels and mice easy routes to the house.
Village homes often have older outbuildings, log stores and sheds that harbour rodents. We check these as well as the house, then give a free prevention survey with suggestions you can act on. If you keep chickens or store animal feed, mention it so we can advise on securing it. Village properties are often older and quiet outside working hours, so a nest can grow unseen, and regular checks of lofts and sheds are worthwhile.
Feed and eggs can do. Store grain in sealed metal or hard plastic bins, clear spilled feed daily and call us if you see signs of burrows or droppings. Store feed in lidded metal bins, clear spillages every day and keep coop doors secure at night so there is less to attract them close to buildings.
Mice are common near open land, but that does not mean you must live with them. Proofing and treatment can reduce the problem, though results depend on the property and surroundings. Countryside brings rodents close, but entry into a building is not inevitable. Good proofing, tidy storage and early action reduce the chance of an infestation taking hold.

Ants walking in a neat line are following a scent trail. Follow it back to find the entry point, and sometimes the nest itself, before the colony settles in.
