Post-war estate homes with gardens suit ants well. We follow the trail across the lawn or path to the nest and treat it, with no call-out charges.
Large post-war estates have a lot of open ground, and ants make use of it. Nests tuck under concrete paths, shed bases and the edge of lawns, and trails cross the garden to reach a kitchen door. Ants are especially visible in a warm, dry spell when the soil is loose and colonies expand. Repeated washing of floors does not stop the next line from forming.
We walk the garden as well as the kitchen, because the nest is rarely indoors. Once the colony or its route is treated, we go through the points where they got in, typically door thresholds and gaps by pipework, and suggest simple sealing and storage changes. We charge a fixed cost and make no call-out charges.
Flying ants are winged males and queens leaving a mature nest on warm days to mate. They are a sign of an established colony nearby, not a new species.
Possibly, if the nest is there. We find where the trail begins and treat that. Cleaning indoors alone will not remove a nest outside.
Ants follow trails to food, so crumbs, spills and open food can attract them.

On a post-war estate, pigeons find the flat roofs, balconies and walkway ledges. Making those spots unusable is what actually moves them on.
Read the advice →Post-war houses were not built with mice in mind, and they have plenty of small openings round pipes and extensions. Finding them is half the battle.
