A mix of older and post-war housing gives Stockhill several types of rat entry point. We look at the whole property and treat what we find.
The housing here spans several periods, which means no single answer to where rats get in. Older houses tend to have worn brickwork, cellars or loose airbricks, while post-war homes more often have gaps around pipes, extensions and garage doors. Gardens are usually the starting point: a pile of rubbish, a broken drain cover or a pet food bowl left out overnight can be enough to bring rats close.
Our survey looks at each of these in turn, inside and out. We treat by baiting or trapping depending on the property and anyone who uses the area, then explain what to change. As members of the BPCA we follow recognised practice, and we are happy to arrange a time that suits you, including same day visits.
Keep pets and children away from the areas where activity has been seen, and do not move bins or clear nesting areas yet. Make a note of where and when you noticed signs so the technician can follow the trail.
Colder weather pushes rats indoors, but they can be around all year if food and shelter are available. Garden activity in warmer months can still lead to rats entering the house later.
Rats come for food, water and shelter. Accessible waste, open drains, bird feed and gaps in buildings can all draw them in.
