An area of mixed housing rarely has one typical cockroach story. In an older house the way in may be a gap around a pipe or a shared wall. In a post-war home it is just as often a delivery, a bag of second-hand kit, or a visitor's luggage that carried them over the doorstep, followed by a warm kitchen that suited them.
That is why we ask questions as well as inspect. When and where have you seen them, and has anything new come into the house? We then check kitchens, bathrooms and the boiler area, identify the species and treat the harbourages. You also get a free pest prevention survey and advice, so you know what to change afterwards. The order in which rooms are affected often tells us the direction of travel, and so the likely source.
It can be. A single sighting may be a stray, but cockroaches are mostly active at night, so one seen in the open often means others are hidden nearby. A quick inspection tells you which it is. The answer can differ from one building to the next.
