In a quiet estate of semis and gardens, cockroaches usually point to something specific: an appliance, a delivery or a damp spot. We find it and deal with it.
Cockroaches in a semi-detached house with a garden can seem out of place, but they live indoors where it is warm and rarely come from the garden itself. More often the story starts with a fridge or dishwasher bought second-hand, a delivery box left in the kitchen, or a warm utility room where nobody looks. Once the insects are dealt with, a few small changes to how food and waste are handled make a lasting difference.
We ask when you first noticed them, then inspect the kitchen, utility space, bathroom and boiler cupboard. After identifying the species we treat the places where they shelter and their routes. Because the homes here are mostly semis, we also tell you if the shared wall with next door is worth checking, and we can talk through sealing and storage. We explain what we have applied and where, so you know what to leave alone afterwards.
Some species can survive outdoors in warm weather, but the ones we treat in homes generally live indoors, where it is warm. Bins and outbuildings can shelter them, so we check those too. It is easier to judge once we have seen the layout.
Inspect them before they come into the house, especially behind panels and around motors, where cockroaches like warmth. Cleaning thoroughly and keeping them away from food areas until checked reduces the risk. Early action usually means a smaller and simpler job.
They can arrive in deliveries, boxes or from neighbouring properties and settle where there is warmth, food and moisture.
