People living near open land sometimes expect wildlife problems, and for rats, mice and wasps that can be fair. Cockroaches are different. They need constant warmth and food, so they live inside, and a house on the edge of an estate is as likely to have them as any other, depending on what has been brought in. A stale, musty smell in a closed cupboard can be one of the earliest signs, before any insect is seen.
We inspect the kitchen, utility room, bathroom and boiler cupboard, identify the species and treat the harbourages and routes. We also take time with the free pest prevention survey, pointing out what feeds the problem, such as pet food left out, a damp cupboard or an unsealed gap. That advice stays useful long after the visit. Cockroaches can squeeze through very narrow gaps, so a crack that looks too small to matter often is not.
It can. Dry food left out overnight or spilt around a bowl is an easy meal. Pick up bowls at night, sweep up crumbs and store food in sealed containers. We keep the explanation short and practical. We are happy to go through it step by step during the visit.
