One itchy night is easy to dismiss, a week of bites is not. We inspect Woodthorpe semis, find the bed bugs and treat them without fuss.
Woodthorpe is mostly inter-war and post-war semi-detached housing, with family bedrooms upstairs and a good deal of shared furniture. When bed bugs arrive, the usual route is a holiday case, a secondhand headboard or a visitor staying over. In a typical semi, they begin in one bed and may spread to the next bedroom over a few weeks if nothing is done.
The inspection is methodical: mattress, base, headboard, bedside table, skirting and curtains. Treatment is then aimed at those areas. Afterwards we advise on washing, vacuuming and keeping bags and boxes off the bed. We offer appointments to suit, including same day visits, and fixed pricing, so you know the cost before work starts.
Do not move bedding between rooms. Strip the bed carefully, bag washables and call us. Moving items around can spread bed bugs, so it helps to wait for advice.
Adults are about the size of an apple seed, so they can be seen, usually in seams and crevices. Eggs and young ones are much smaller and easier to miss.
No. Bed bugs are picked up from travel, second-hand furniture and visitors, and can appear in clean homes and hotels.

When the evenings turn cold, the rats that have been living outside look for somewhere warmer. A semi next to a park can look very inviting indeed.
Read the advice →A cockroach in a family semi comes as a shock, and the first reaction is often embarrassment. They are far more often carried in than invited.
