A village home with countryside around it has plenty of ground for ants. We trace the trail and treat the nest, and explain how to keep them out.
Villages near open countryside, like Watnall, have large gardens, hedgerows and field margins where ant nests are common. Foragers range from these into outbuildings and kitchens, and older cottages with stone or brick floors have gaps that are easy to use. Yellow ants, which build grassy mounds in undisturbed ground, are more typical of old lawns and meadow edges than of town gardens.
We follow the line to find which species it is and where the nest sits, then treat it. Outbuildings, porches and garden rooms are worth checking too. A free pest prevention survey is part of the service with treatments, covering gaps, storage and what to do if ants reappear later in the year.
Species and nest types can differ, for example mounds in undisturbed grass. Identifying the ant helps us choose where and how to treat.
They give ants nesting ground close to the house, but not every home near them has trouble. Sealing gaps and keeping food stored help.
Ants follow trails to food, so crumbs, spills and open food can attract them.

Ants walking in a neat line are following a scent trail. Follow it back to find the entry point, and sometimes the nest itself, before the colony settles in.
