In a small village among farmland, cockroaches are an indoor guest rather than a rural one. We trace how they arrived and treat where they shelter.
A village close to the A46 sees deliveries, tradespeople and visitors coming and going, and that is often how cockroaches arrive. They hide in boxes, bags or second-hand appliances and settle in the first warm kitchen with a food source. Fields around the village are not their habitat, but they do affect other pests, which we check separately. Keeping pet bowls clear overnight takes away one of the more overlooked food sources in a kitchen.
On a visit we look in the kitchen, pantry, utility room and around the boiler. We identify the species, treat the harbourages and the routes, and ask about recent changes such as a new appliance or a house move. Because properties are spread out, the cause is usually within the building, which makes the advice straightforward. Sealing with a suitable filler after treatment closes routes that insects might otherwise use again.
Not usually. Cockroaches live indoors and prefer warmth, so farm buildings are less relevant than your own kitchen. Rats and mice are a different matter, and we can advise if you suspect them. Treatment is only one part, and prevention matters as well.
Look for flat brown insects that run fast and appear at night, small dark droppings, smears, egg cases and a musty smell. Keep one in a jar if you can and we will identify it. It helps to keep access clear, but we will work around furniture where we can.
They can arrive in deliveries, boxes or from neighbouring properties and settle where there is warmth, food and moisture.

In a village surrounded by farmland, a wasp nest might sit in a hedge bank, an outbuilding or the soffit. Whether it needs treatment depends on where it is.
