Hyson Green mixes Victorian terraces with post-war flats, and wasps find their way into both. In a terrace the nest is usually in the loft or under the eaves. In a block of flats it can be in a roof void, behind cladding, in a balcony soffit or in a communal outbuilding. The difficulty is often working out who is responsible for the building, so mention who owns the roof when you call.
Once we have access, the nest is treated and the job is done at a fixed £90. If the nest is still active within 30 days we return. A flat resident with wasps coming through a window frame should keep that window closed in the meantime and avoid swatting near it, which only tends to agitate any wasps defending the nest.
It depends on who owns the roof or communal areas, usually a landlord or managing agent. Ask them to arrange access, or give us their contact details. If the wasps are coming into your own flat, we can still advise.
We would advise against it. Spraying near a nest can provoke wasps, and a nest high on a wall or in a roof is difficult to reach safely. A technician has the right equipment and experience.
