Water, older town-centre property and nearby housing give Retford's cafes, pubs and shops a rodent route that rarely closes.
The Chesterfield Canal runs through Retford, and any waterside bank offers rats cover, food and a route between buildings. Premises near it, as well as those in the older town-centre streets, can see activity that comes and goes with the seasons. A cafe with outside tables, a pub garden or a shop with rear storage all offer easy pickings. Later housing around the centre adds yet more gardens and bins for rats to use.
We offer a free survey and a free written inspection report, looking at the building, its yard and anything beside water or drainage. Ongoing visits are agreed at a fixed cost, timed to suit service patterns, and we work around customers in occupied premises. If you trade beside the water, tell us where the bank is and where customers sit, so we can plan the survey around it.
It can, as banks and water offer rats food and cover. We pay attention to the boundary and drains in the survey, and may suggest more frequent checks if signs of activity are found. Each case is different.
We can look at them as part of the survey. Treatment near customers needs planning, so we arrange it around opening times and explain what will be done before it starts. Please tell us which areas the public use.
