Surrounded by farmland and riverside ground, a village home like those at Stoke Bardolph can see ants from several directions. We find the nest and treat it.
A small village by the River Trent has fields, hedges and riverbanks close to every house, and ants nest in all of them. Riverside soil can be damp in winter and dry in summer, and ants shift with it. Outbuildings, garages and farm-style yards add warm corners. A trail across a farm track or garden path to your kitchen door might come from an old wall or bank some distance away.
We follow the trail to the nest and treat it where it is accessible, then look at how ants get inside. Free advice comes with all treatments, including simple storage and sealing steps. Fixed cost pricing applies. If a nest is on neighbouring farmland, we will explain what can be done from your side.
They can nest in well-drained banks and soil edges. We look for the nest where the trail leads rather than assuming.
As the weather cools, some foragers seek warm places and food. The nest does not always move, so we check it.
Ants follow trails to food, so crumbs, spills and open food can attract them.

A house by the river and fields has more wildlife on its doorstep than most. A short seasonal checklist keeps the visitors outside where they belong.
Read the advice →A dog that spends the day in fields and along the river can bring fleas through the door by evening. Most of the eggs end up in the house, not on the dog.
