Ants in a Radford terrace tend to come in from the yard or the party wall. We trace them to the nest and treat it, with appointments to suit.
In dense terraced streets like those in Radford, ants often share a single nest between several houses. One household tidies up and the trail simply moves next door, or comes back a week later. Yard walls, drain covers and the base of a rear extension are favourite spots, and the foragers use hairline gaps to reach kitchens. Winged ants emerging on a warm summer afternoon usually mean a mature nest close by.
When we visit we look at the yard, the wall line and the kitchen threshold together, then follow the trail back rather than just treating the room where you saw them. If neighbours also have ants, mention it, as the nest may sit under shared ground. We can usually arrange appointments to suit, including same day visits.
A visible trail can disappear for a day or two while the nest is still active underneath. Cleaning removes the trail scent but not the colony. Treatment has to reach the nest or the route, and results depend on its size.
It helps. In terraced streets one nest can feed trails into several houses, so treating one property may not stop ants moving between them. We can advise on how to approach it.
Ants follow trails to food, so crumbs, spills and open food can attract them.
